How the Alumni Association supports AFN Leaders
The Appalachian Alumni Association does not provide direct financial support to AFN. However, the following is a list of ways Appalachian can support AFN leaders.
For more information, contact Assistant Alumni Director Amanda Griggs '03.
1. Web Site
The Alumni Association will provide and maintain a Web site for each area.
2. Mailing List Administration
The Alumni Association can keep track of alumni who attend AFN events or make local contributions, allowing groups to target "most interested" alumni when desired.
3. Staff Support
Alumni office staff members assist AFN leaders with any aspects of planning and promoting events. Staff members also work to organize new clubs and reactivate dormant clubs.
4. Event Speakers
The Alumni Association can occasionally help identify and arrange for speakers from the University and communities to attend AFN events.
5. Mail Services
The Alumni Association will label and provide mailing services for AFN newsletters and notices. (These services do not include postage costs, for which AFN leaders are responsible.) The Alumni Association can also send an e-mail message targeted to alumni your area. Click here to download an e-mail message request form.
6. Event Supplies
The Appalachian Alumni Association will provide blank name tags, a "Party in a Box," and Alumni and University information for events (if requested in advance). Click here to download a template for raffle tickets. You can download a blank signup sheet here.
7. Event Promotion Suggestions
The Alumni Association will provide AFN leaders with samples of newsletters and event notices from other areas around the country.
8. Conference for AFN Leaders
Any person involved with AFN leadership or planning groups is welcome to attend the annual workshop during Spring Alumni Weekend in April.
