THE FIRST MOUNTAINEER
The Mike Helsabeck Collection is pleased to announce the release of the 2007 Appalachian State University Print entitled, "The First Mountaineer." Each production features the University logo and is individually hand numbered and signed by artist Mike Helsabeck '88. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Appalachian Alumni Association.
The print focuses on the Daniel Boone Campsite located by the Duck Pond. The campus landmark was created by the late sculptor Sherry Edwards, an outstanding ASU faculty member for many years before her death in 1999. Thomas Jay Warren performed the finishing detail work on the scultpture after Sherry became too ill to complete the project.
