It’s not unlike Appalachian fans to deck out the most elaborate tailgate displays while soaking in the gameday atmosphere at The Rock. Groups in different locations try to out “Black & Gold” their respective areas in an effort to spread the gameday cheer.
Appalachian ISP Sports Properties has again joined forces with Appalachian Energy to 
reward the fan(s) that boast the most elaborate tailgate setup. Each home game, Head Basketball Coach Houston Fancher and a celebrity guest will search the parking lots, grassy knolls, and other hide-a-ways in search of the Appalachian Energy Tailgate-of-the-Game. Weekly winners receive the following:
- A prize pack from Coca-Cola bottlers
- A sample of the latest in gameday fashions from the ASU Bookstore
- Select merchandise from the Mast General Store
- An ASU schedule magnet, perfect for the refrigerator
Weekly winners will have their tailgate photographed and featured on the APPVISION scoreboard during the game. Photographs of tailgate setups from across the gameday landscape will be featured following each game on TailgateattheRock.com.
At the end of the season one fan and one student winner will be tabbed as the proprietor of the Appalachian Energy Tailgates-of-the-Year. The Grand Prizes include:
- A Solaire infra-red stainless steel gas grill valued at $1200 and we are also throwing in a ASU grill cover
- A brand-new Coca-Cola bicycle will be awarded to the ASU Student with the top site in terms of tailgate creativity.
Our Grand Prize winners will have their tailgate photo displayed on TailgateattheRock.com and could be featured in various printed materials to promote the 2008 football season.
Creativity will be rewarded in the eyes of the judges. Those that best implement Black & Gold, Yosef, or other elements surrounding Appalachian Football will be given extra consideration.
This contest is open to ASU Alumni, fans, friends, and students. Employees and direct relatives of Appalachian State Athletics, ASU Athletics recruits, Appalachian Energy, Coca-Cola of Boone, the Mast General Store, and the ASU Bookstore are not eligible to win prizes related to this contest.
